Spence and I have now been married five years. We've had so much fun the last two days celebrating with Lizzie and Daniel. Most of what we did will probably sound strange as an anniversary, but we loved it. First Spence made me laugh Thursday night. If you know Spence, you know he doesn't plan a thing. I think the last time he planned something was when he proposed because I obviously couldn't plan that. :) So Thursday night he says "Here's my plan for tomorrow." I'm thinking wow he planned something? "We wake up and get Gandolfo's for breakfast (which we both love) then go see Cars 2 (which his work was paying for)." I waited for him to continue and he did as he listed possible lunch and dinner places. I busted up laughing realizing that for him, planning meant choosing food. I'm so glad Spencer is still the same food loving man he was before we got married. I can always jog his memory if I remind him what food or drink we had at the time. In the morning we got the kids ready and headed off for Gandolfo's and Cars 2. We haven't been to a movie for a while so this was especially nice. The movie was up at the Gateway so we played in the fountains and of course had to stop by the Apple store so Lizzie could play on the Ipad 2. She loves those games. I think the day we actually walk out with one will be her happiest day ever. The day was already pretty hot and we have no AC in our van. We weren't really looking forward to the drive home so to Chili's we went for lunch. Ah the nice cool air was so refreshing. I've been asking and asking for Cabela's fudge, probably for over a year now. I love that stuff. Spence decided we'd stop by on our way down and oh that fudge was sooo yummy! I love how many samples they give you. By the time we left we had already had enough of its yummy deliciousness. Lizzie and Daniel loved watching the fish. We looked around at animals and decided to go for a hike. Unfortunately I also had a research paper due Saturday night, plus we were tired from the heat of the car. We came home, relaxed and I typed my paper. Before bedtime we took the kids to Sonic since Lizzie had a free ice cream cone. This morning (Saturday) we woke up and got ready for our hike. Spence has been needing a pair of hiking shoes since before we were married so we stopped by Big 5. They had awesome sales! I even got hiking shoes too. We are loving these shoes! They fit so perfectly and are light as opposed to all the heavy clunker hiking boots I've had before. We grabbed Subway to eat on our hike and headed up Maple Canyon. The hikes up there are great because even when there are a lot of cars you still don't see many people, plus it's so green. We took our time while Spence played with his camera. This is typical of everywhere we go. We didn't go nearly as far as planned, but spending time together was great. The river in Maple Canyon goes right over the road in a couple places. The water was absolutely frigid. I convinced Lizzie we could run through it. Our feet definitely appreciated the hot road after that! Soaking wet we came home for naps and Spence and I watched Psych (our new favorite show). We then spent the evening playing in sprinklers and eating pizza and snowcones.
Daniel and I, after he stopped screaming from being put into the backpack.
Spence lagged behind to get this picture of us, although you can only see Daniel's legs. :)
Just hiking along.
For the first time in ever Lizzie did not want to do pictures. She wanted to keep throwing rocks in the water, we should've known.
Walking across the log bridge.
Finding rocks to throw.

Another one of us walking across the bridge, Spence was experimenting.
Running through the freezing river that goes right over the road. I don't imagine it would take long to get frostbite from standing in that water.
That all sounds like fun to me!! It is the little things that are sometimes the best. And the food! And I think Lizzie and Shane would get along great :)
