A Tangled Birthday

Daniel and Lizzie both love Tangled so I combined their parties since we'd be gone for Daniel's anyway.  It wasn't a surprise that Lizzie loves Tangled, but I would never have thought a baby under 1 would love any movie so much.  For those of you who haven't witnessed, Daniel's obsessed.  When he's ornery for whatever reason, all I have to do is put Tangled on and instantly he's happy.  He'll sit and watch the whole show.  I hate to admit that, but I'd rather him watch the show than be screaming at me for two hours.  Luckily his crawling has made him so much happier.  In my cake decorating class I made a cool Tangled cake.  I came up with the idea on my own and used class time to decorate it.  Then for the party we did games for each character although we ran out of time for everything.  We pinned the ribbon in Rapunzel's hair.  This was hilarious!  Some of the older kids ran right into the wall.  They all helped each other too, yelling out how close the person was.  For Pascal we made fun party blowers.  I probably should have saved these for the end.  The kids loved these!  They still play with them.  For Flynn, or Eugene as Lizzie calls him, I put jewels and party favors in Lizzie's purse.  Spence hid the purse like Rapunzel hides Flynn's satchel and the kids had to go outside to find it.  We never got to Maximus bobbing for apples.  Everyone brought food so we had yummy sandwiches and salads for lunch.  Opening presents was kind of chaotic with two kids, but everything was so appreciated.  Lizzie was asking all morning when she could open presents.  She was so excited.  Thanks to everyone who came!  You guys made it an awesome day.  Yay for the dollar store for helping me do a cheap fun party!
The cake all decorated and ready to be eaten!   The pictures below are Daniel and Lizzie unwrapping presents.  They were both kind of confused by the chaos, and of course ready for naps. :)
Daniel enjoying his cupcake.  He didn't really know what do with it since his food is always small pieces so he mostly squished it up until Spence made him try it.  Weird for our food obsessed boy.
He liked the ice cream scoop more than the cake I think.  Oh wells.
I'm thinking I caught Lizzie right as she took a bite of ice cream.  She always pulls a weird face and says it's too cold like she's surprised, but she still loves it.  And of course below that, the hit of the party, Pascal blowers!
Here's a side view of the cake.  I thought it was cool with the funfetti, marble, and different icings.
Spence occupied the kids with chalk drawings like Rapunzel did.  I'm not really sure what Lizzie added to the top of the castle.  Any guesses?
It was a busy day and the kids didn't really get a chance to enjoy their toys as much as they wanted so we let them stay up late and play tea party, Lizzie's favorite.
Man I totally caught her in between smiles here.  She was cheesin' it, but my camera takes a second.  Oh well still cute.
I know this isn't in focus (since he was crawling at me), but I love that smile!

Now for an update on Lizzie, my crazy cute three year old.  She makes life so interesting.  She still gets shy in new situations, but coming more and more out of her shell.  She talks non-stop.  If you let her, she'll carry an entire conversation for a good thirty minutes or more.  One of the times I was doing a quiz online she was telling me something and I realized after I finished the quiz that she had been talking to me the whole time.  She sings constantly around the house and loves music.  She always talks about going to Seven Peaks, Trafalga, and Disneyland.  Disneyland has become an obsession.  She tells me about Disneyland every day, mind you she can't remember the last time she went.  She's just seen that the characters are there.  She wants to give them all high fives.  Her imagination is crazy!  She makes stuff up all the time.  Spence and I even joked about giving her a present that was empty and telling her something was in it to see if she'd go along.  I'm sure she would.  The other day she was looking down in the grass and told me the lions and tigers were having a kickball game.  Then she gave me a play by play.  I would love to see miniature lions and tigers playing kickball.  She loves preschool and asks to do it every day.  Unfortunately with me finishing school I haven't been able to do it with her for about a month.  She's still our little shrimp at 23 lbs and 34 in.  That's the one and two percentile range respectively.  Lizzie's definitely a lefty, which she has been since before her first birthday.  That's never changed, but her writing shows it too.  She loves most characters,  Tinkerbell, princesses, Cars, Wall-E, Winnie-the-Pooh, Mickey Mouse, and many others.  Her sense of humor kills me.  She says things she knows are wrong just to be silly. Her favorite is "Old Macdonald had some pants!" She's always helping me clean, cook, and take care of Daniel.  We love our LizzieJane!
