Capitol Reef
Ok so these are totally backwards cause I forgot and uploaded them that way so we'll take a backwards look at our day at Capitol Reef. Steven and MeLisa and Julie and Colby were camping there over Memorial Day so we joined them for a day. Sorry there are a lot of pictures cause I wanted to include anything that Lisa in California might want to see.
As you can see Lizzie had a great time playing in the dirt and rocks. At this point she even had soot on her face. I guess she decided to join Mary Poppins as a chimney sweep.
This is Lisa's dog Dayton. He definitely has bulked up since she left.
Julie and Colby's little girl Berklee just relaxing by the campfire.
Steven and MeLisa's boy Caleb. The three boys, Caleb, David, and Jackson, were all using this harness on the back of the truck to rapel off the back. Surprisingly the ties were pretty good. No major injuries.
All of these were taken by Spence, but I really love this one where he captured the sun going down silhouetting the rocks.
Lizzie doing what she did all day long, pick up a rock, throw the rock, look for another rock. Seriously her obsession is so funny. At home she keeps a few rocks in her bedroom. One night she even held one as she fell asleep.
I know it's kinda blurry. Not sure what my camera was focusing on, but this is me and David. I couldn't get any kind of traction so instead I slid down the rock. Pretty effective and luckily didn't rip my pants, plus Julie caught me at the bottom.
Colby was throwing moss from the river at David who would try to be a ninja with a stick and knock it away. Both ended up getting completely drenched in the freezing water. Lizzie thought the boys were crazy for all going into the water. She wouldn't touch it once she felt how cold it was.
My dad, the biggest kid of everyone, reaching over the ledge to play in the waterfall. It's no wonder all the boys end up soaking wet all the time.
Still at the waterfall. Seeing as how we rarely take a picture with the two of us we thought we'd take advantage of all the family around. Thanks Dad!
Colby and David in the middle of their moss fight with Jackson and Berklee watching from the sidelines.
So cute! My mom and dad up top watching all of us play on the rocks and water. Can you believe just before this we went on a crazy hike (almost climb) where the guys basically had to lift me and my mom up?! My problem is I have always been totally uncoordinated. My mom's problem is she's got a fractured wrist. It was a great climb and both of us said we would have done it again. Although I'm not sure what the guys would have said. :) Ok really they would have probably done even more. Either way I don't think these two will ever start acting their age and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Me and Lizzie down on a rock ledge by the waterfall. She was totally freaked by the loud rushing water. Not her favorite thing for sure.
After the hike/climb we did we had to visit the park we went to as kids. This used to be a crazy twisted tree that went everywhere. It's obvious it's not nearly as all over the place, but the kids still love climbing all over it. Whew and that's our Memorial Day!

Cute pics. Fun day! You do not look like you're going to have a baby in a month. Not fair!
ReplyDeleteThe rock thing must be a toddler-wise obsession- they are Shane's favorite toy too! And I can't believe you will be having a baby soon- you look fabulous!
